Auburn firm lands $143 million contract for COVID-19 vaccine packages

When researchers perfect a vaccine to combat coronavirus, an Auburn company will produce its packaging.
SiO2 Materials Science, located in Auburn Technology Park West, has landed a $143 million federal contract to produce packaging, including vials, for storing COVID-19 vaccines.
The company currently employs more than 200 engineers, scientists and technicians, most of whom live in Lee County and are Auburn University graduates.
